![]() Building a DAW though, means you might have to build something that is compatible with all VST, AU, etc plugins! Also, this might play into their competitors, whereas now they've cornered a nice part of the market for themselves. NI have, for years and years, built products that are compatible with all major (so probably 20+) DAWs. Only insiders could really know the reason, but consider that building a DAW is an insanely complex undertaking. This is one of those points, that I think well, depending on what music you make, you could get away with using it as your DAW. With the Audio plugin (vs Sampler), you can do it a bit, in loops, but that is still not the same as having an audio "track". ![]() One of the things one could expect from a DAW is recording a vocal track throughout the length of a song, which is a thing Maschine does not do.
